Featured on Style me Pretty
I'm so very excited to see my recent 'Laced & Graced' Bridal Shower shoot featured this week on Style me Pretty Australia. Style me Pretty is one of my absolute fave weddings blogs, so feeling really honoured to have some of my photos featured in a post. Thanks again to everyone who made the shoot happen. You can see the featured blog post here.

2011 recap
Wow what a year it's been.
Firstly I want to say a big thanks to everyone I have worked with in 2011 including the makeup and hair artists, florists, fashion stylists, models, designers, vendors and fellow photographers. Without you all the shoots would not have been possible. A big shout out also to the beautiful and generous Sydney and online 'wedding' community. But most importantly thank you to those who visit and read silk truffle. Really appreciate your support.
2011 has been my biggest year on growth and development with photography. Here's a recap into 2011 and my photography journey...
Starting in January I organised my first collaboration photoshoot. At first I was scared of stuffing up as everyone was coming together for a end product - the photos. But fortunately all worked out well.

Audrey Hepburn inspired - thanks to Cathy and Brooke to being such great sports.
Evening Falls, my first 'big' collaboration shoot to organise with Megan, Ash, Emma, Aley & Talia. I jumped in the deep end introduced myself to these people who I'm so grateful to have met. They believed in me even though I had a limited portfolio.
Working with Lina again, I was privileged to be invited as a second photographer on this gorgeous Alice in Wonderland inspired shoot.
One of my favourite shoots from this year was the Clementine Posy Capture the Light shoot. So happy to have met Ash a floral genius.
I love 2nd shoot with Luisa.. she is such a beautiful and generous and ever so creative person. Whenever you shoot with her it makes you so happy and lively. I'm so so lucky to have been able to tag along with her to several collaboration shoots that she has organised.
My first 'indoors' shoot for fashion designer Eileen Kirby. Really enjoyed this as it was something different to my normal outdoors look and the dresses were oh so pretty.
Another favourite was the Summerblossom 'A Faery's song shoot'.' Shooting for someone else is always different but I had so much fun with these gorgeous girls and love the photos too.
Ahh heaven lighting... my first couple collaboration shoot as a second photographer for Teeki designs.
My most recently posted blog post featured the images from this shoot with Margaret from Shine by Three. This was another one of Luisa's creative thinkings.

My last shoot of the year with Chanele Rose Flowers was Kasey & Tyler's engagement session which I will blog in January. I am also currently working on the new Chanele Rose Flowers branding identity which will be unveiled next year.
Finally my last shoot of 2011 (just last week) was a beautifully styled bridal shower.. can't wait to share this one with you next year.
So there you go, a summary of my photography in 2011. Thank you so much (again) for those who have constantly supported me or dropped by the blog/email to give words of encouragement, support and feedback.
So just bouncing out of photography for a minute... in October 2011 I finally graduated from my three year design degree. After all those realllllly long nights (if I was lucky to even have any sleep) I'm so glad it's over. (Which explains a little of the lack of posting on Silk Truffle over the past few months-sorry). I haven't shared my graphic design work on Silk Truffle before though, as it's always primarily been my photography blog. But if you wish to see some, you can on my website here.

Since the completion of my course, I resigned from my casual weekend retail job as opportunities arose to work in the wedding photography field which I have been busy with since the end of October.
Since graduating I've been in jobs in photography including second shooting for Nadean-thank you for being SO supportive of my photography.
Ok and to some features...
To top of the Evening Falls shoot was it being featured on Polka Dot Bride. You could not believe my excitement when my favourite Australian wedding blog was featuring my photography! Ms Polka has been ever so kind, thank you for my introduction into the online wedding world.
There's nothing like seeing photos in print - Some were published in Modern Wedding magazine.
And some online articles that featured some of my photos...
I say BRING on 2012!!! xx

Happy 1st Birthday Silk Truffle
So I've got a thank you and personal post to share with you all today. Somehow I missed the 1st birthday of Silk Truffle. oooops. No excuses i know, but I've just been so wrapped up in college that it’s been hectic and a little crazy to say the least. I'm currently in my final semester of my communication design degree so the next few weeks are going to be even crazier as we wrap up the course and also put my graphic design portfolio together. So I apologise in advance if the blog front is a little quiet.
Ok so enough about me and more about Silk Truffle. What started as a late night impromptu little blog, it has really helped me in more ways that I can imagine. When I started the blog my aim was to post and document the start of my photography journey and put my photos out into the world. I was so excited to start posting and documenting my own photography as well as share items and styles inspirational to me.
I have met so many other inspirational creatives in both the photography and weddings 'industry' both online and in person. Silk Truffle has given me the platform to show my work to professionals and show that I am serious about my photography. I love it when I meet a friend, colleague or even stranger and they say they've heard of Silk Truffle; even better when they say they've read it or visit it regularly. It really makes me smile.
So what started as documentation for my photography certainly did that! I can't believe the amount of professional photographers that have taken the time to visit my blog and leave a comment or send an email. Some truly amazing photographers which I greatly admired (and still do) before I started the blog were acknowledging my work which truly means the world to me. And of course there is a little team of people (you know who you are) which I love and appreciate your constant support and encouragement more than ever!
Thank YOU for taking the time to visit and read Silk Truffle. I can't thank you enough for your support.
Jess xx

Pretty Young Things Collaboration shoot
In December 2010, I photographed and organised a collaboration shoot alongside Luisa Brimble. Not only did I have a fun time during the shoot, but I didn't realise preparing it was lots of fun too. Together we organised a team, which included the model Sophie Crenigan wearing beautiful dresses by Valerie Tolosa, makeup artist Megan Vaughan, hair stylist Candice Lee and flowers by Chanele Rose Flowers.
When I approached Valerie to see whether she was interested in lending us some clothing from her label, I was hesitant if she would even reply to me... let alone saying YES. I've been following Valerie's clothing for years now, so it was very exciting that I had the opportunity to photograph some of her pretty dresses.
I'm so grateful for each and every person who came on board for the shoot and to Luisa for organising with me (while being heavily pregnant). Thank you for such a wonderful afternoon.
